Lessons from a Follower :: The Challenge of Being a Follower

Jesus challenges us to do things that are sometimes far beyond what we believe we can do. The disciples are concerned that many people are still listening to Jesus’ teachings while it gets late. Their reasonable suggestion to send the people away to allow them to get something to eat results in Jesus responding, “You give them something to eat”. While this doesn’t seem humanly possible, the disciples obey their orders. Miraculously, everyone eats. This week’s message is a good reminder to remember that God will provide the resources necessary to accomplish the tasks he’s laid before us.

For six weeks we are focusing our attention together on what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  Being a “follower” of anything or anyone isn’t really esteemed in our culture.  We value leaders.
